Extra Didactic Competition
Students of Master’s Programme in Product Design participated to the extra didactic Competition, in collaboration with Tortona area Lab, Sense – Immaterial Reality and Urbo.
The aim of workshop was to retrain the roundabout of Tortona District, reference and nerve center of Milano Design Week. Students were required to elaborate an outdoor and interactive project that could give a new vision of a more sustainable Milan, in occasion of Fuorisalone Design Week.
During the workshop, nature, design and technology were combined, lending a contemporary view to the roundabout symbol of Tortona Design District.

The brief provided 3 scenarios, defined by various realization tools: Augmented reality, light design and furniture design, allowing multiple and immersive experiences to the users.
Depatla Charvi Reddy and Oomung Varma developed Portanello Rotonda, a narrative structure related to the roundabout as a new reference space for the city and its habitants. The project is a series of installations which opens the doors to innovative and sustainable design, combining three elements: Earth, light and biology. The installations are sculptures characterised by harmonious design inspired by the symbolic iconography of Olympic Rings. Starting from here they designed ecological and intuitive concrete furniture, for public use.
