Within the Advanced Design & Processes workshop with COIMA Image, that explored the contemporary, comfortable, and innovative outdoor living scenarios in different environments, the students of the Master in Product Design Ataberk Saraçoğlu and Rami Majzoub, developed “Oxi Tables”, a coffee table set (three pieces) showcasing the oxidising effect on the top surface.
The center table form represents the different oxidised surfaces that is growing radially away from the source of oxidation. The outer shape of the two other tables is inspired by the art of heat painting copper plates. The colors of oxidised copper spreads with the direction of heat that is causing the oxidation in this case. The base part is basic circular shape with an opening in the middle of each table that represents the most oxidised area and functions as a water drain and a handle to relocate the tables.

The tables can be arranged together, and the surfaces will be overlapping due to their different heights. As you rotate the tables the contrasting effect changes which makes this set a piece of art that displays a new look every time is arranged in a different way.
This project widens the use of oxidized copper to the outdoors. When the surfaces of everyday objects become a work of art a deeper relationship is built with the user.
