Domus Academy’s students from the Master in Interior & Living Design took inspiration from Eli, a social media influencer with a huge ego and from his residence which caters to his everlasting needs for space transformation as his job demands. His ego is defined by the huge elliptical courtyard in the center of the house. The shape of the house and of the courtyard represent the contrasting life he lives and portrays. His life plays out in opposite aspects on and off camera, so the students have translated this in terms of public and private, light and shadow and inside and outside.
They established the concept around the idea of a radial grid originating from the central courtyard and to use it to align the roofs and the beams. The smaller rooms support the large roof, as if they were floating. Using sliding doors between the spaces they created partitions that can be adjusted to create new spaces and privacy for others. The house mirrors itself through the courtyard.

An interior design project conceived with irony, both in terms of the client’s personality and in terms of spaces.
The contrast between the octagonal shape of the boundary wall and the elliptical courtyard gives a feeling of being enveloped – all about himself like his personality.
