As part of the Epigenetic Landscape Workshop, Domus Academy students from the Master in Interaction Design and Master in Urban Vision & Architectural Design created an Interaction Design project related to Italian city of Prato.
Students starting from the word ‘Interstate’, a specific highway system in the United States that can be broken down into a simpler meaning of “between states” (regions or areas). The approach was to discover these types of local connections in Prato.

Students used the data based on the main highways and roads to study the traffic patterns in Prato by hour. Then they designed a gif to show the daily traffic from 7am-9pm cycling through the day in repeat.
Students also collected data about “Human Interference with Nature” to create a moving circular object that can be manipulated by playing certain keys on the computer.
