LIVING IN MILAN HAS NOT JUST BEEN AN ACADEMIC PURSUIT; IT HAS BEEN THE REALIZATION OF A LIFELONG DREAM.
Marcela De Leon Cruz, Guatemala, Master in Interior & Living Design
“As an architect from Guatemala with over five years of experience, coming to Milan to pursue my dream of earning a master’s degree has been nothing short of extraordinary. This year has exceeded my expectations, not only because of my studies at Domus Academy but also because of the vibrant life in Milan itself. The city is a living museum of art and design, with inspiration at every corner, especially during Design Week.
My time at Domus Academy has been filled with enriching workshops and guidance from exceptional teachers, pushing me to think outside the box and believe in the feasibility of what we imagine. Beyond academics, I’ve embraced life here—traveling around Italy and Europe, forming friendships with people from all over the world, indulging in pizza, pasta, and spritz, and even challenging myself with a half-marathon and CrossFit.
Being away from Guatemala has also given me a deeper appreciation for my country, my family, and my friends, whose support and love have been invaluable on this journey. Living in Milan has not just been an academic pursuit; it has been the realization of a lifelong dream, one I’ve cherished since my early days in architecture school.”
