Jianhao Yu recently graduated from the Master in Product Design at Domus Academy participated in this famous exhibition by bringing one of his product designs, “Mu”, a small item container designed to enhance the utility and aesthetics of simple, everyday objects that are often overlooked.
“Mu” consists of two containers with positive and negative shapes. Opening the mould, similar to a shell, a container appears to surprise effect. The metal blowpipe becomes the small handle of the container’s lid to open and close it. At the same time, the rectangular shell is given the flexible functionality of a tray or pencil holder through horizontal or vertical placement.
The object’s name refers to “mould” in Chinese; the mould that creates the container becomes a container itself.
