Domus Academy alumna wins IF Design Award
Irem Başer Oğan, who graduated from the Domus Academy Master’s in Product Design in 2008, is an Interior Designer and an Escapefromsofa partner (https://escapefromsofa.com/).
The design studio won the prestigious IF Design Award 2021: among 9.509 projects and 52 countries, Escapefromsofa was the first in “Residential Design” category.
The winning project is called “K house – residential interior”: K house is located in Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Bodrum, Turkey. This small-scale residential project was designed and built in 2020.

The project includes two bedrooms, three toilets, and an open plan kitchen with the living room. The astonishing view of the Aegean Sea from the glazed façade and the interplay of natural light with interior colors create a spacious and vivid living area. The design of walls and ceilings reflects the excitement and serenity of summer in Bodrum. The circular furnishing plan of the living room represents a fluent use of space. This design provides a frame for contemplation of a work of art, namely the sea.
