Daniele Ficarra wins competition for Swarovski
Domus Academy is proud to announce one of our alumni Daniele Ficarra, who attended our Master’s Programme in Product Design, is one of the winners for Swarovski Foundation Institute: Creatives for Our Future project.
Daniele Ficarra, created “Aquo” a project based on an in-depth research in the world of synthetic biology and, in particular, of microorganisms capable of emitting light under certain conditions.
The main concept is the self-recharging water lamp that exploits the oxidizing reaction of a type of bacteria that emit photons, perceived by man in the form of light.
Swarovski Foundation: Creatives for Our Future is a project that amplifies the vision and emphasizes the power of creative thinking to stimulate problem solving.
The areas of expertise of the selected innovators span sustainable fashion, product design, architecture, visual arts, engineering and biotechnology.
