‘Domus Academy’s history is a history of many histories, including mine. Ever since our first meeting for the foundation of Domus Academy, it was clear to all of us that we did not want to found a school to transmit knowledge, but that we wanted to teach in order to learn.’ Andrea shared on an interview (‘Il Design Parla Italiano – Vent’anni di Domus Academy).
The founders envisioned a school where students and faculty members from all over the world could meet and exchange ideas. A school that would aim to enrich, spread, and update the design culture while combining advanced knowledge and visionary projects. From its beginning it involved leading designers such as Ettore Sottsass, Denis Santachiara and Philippe Starck.
The school’s founders had a vision of a place where individuals from diverse backgrounds worldwide could gather to share ideas. A school aimed to enhance, disseminate, and modernize design culture by blending cutting-edge expertise with innovative projects. Right from the start, it attracted renowned designers like Ettore Sottsass, Denis Santachiara, Philippe Starck, Gianfranco Ferrè and many others.
Andrea Branzi design works are included in permanent collections such as the Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Museum of Fine Arts Houston, Houston; Museum of Modern Art, New York; Victoria & Albert Museum, London; Vitra Design Museum, Weil am Rhein.
Thank you Andrea for having been a fundamental pillar of our school, still inspiring next generation students with your passion and brilliance.
